IPM Foundation Stage 

Preliminary Course Level 1

The Foundation Stage is centered around the fundamentals of playing the chosen instrument using four levels of Assessment Criteria for performance. It is imperative to note that this level must be completed before moving onto the next stage. Grades 1, 2, and 3. fit this category and is best suited to KS2 and KS3 students.

IPM Stage 1

Intermediate Course level 2 

The Intermediate stage is transitional from Grade 3 to 4 and it is where we prepare the individual for the challenges that stage 3 demands. Stage 1 is equivalent in standard to the first year of GCSE Music. Best suited to students in Y10 or from age 13 and above.

IPM Stage 2

Intermediate Course level 2 

The intermediate course at level 2 is geared for Y11 students and above. Stage 2 is linked to Grade 5 music. Best suited to Y11 students preparing to study A-Level Music at 6th form college.

IPM Stage 3 

Advanced Course level 3

Music at Stage 3 is transitional for Y12 students and above, and it is equivalent in difficulty to the first year of A-Level music. At this level students can expect to prepare for a career in music and preforming arts. Performance grade is rated higher for UCAS points than theory only.

IPM Stage 4

Advanced Course Level 3

Music at Stage 4 is for Y13 students and above, and it is equivalent in difficulty to the second year of A-Level music. At this level students can expect to be more advance compared to those at Stage 3. Performance grade is rated higher for UCAS points than theory only.

IPM Stage 5 

Advanced Course level 3 

Music at Stage 5 is transitional for 6th form to university. It is for students wanting to pursue a career in the music industry. At this level students can expect to be involved with more advance musicians who are already working within this field. Performance grade is rated higher for UCAS points than theory only. Stage 5 includes industry insight and financial IQ, the basics for each area of learning. Students discover how to earn and invest income.
